Cat, Ben and baby Eli
Cat, Ben and baby Eli

It’s been a busy week for me, and unlike one I’ve ever had before. It’s my pleasure to be able to announce that I have given birth to a beautiful baby boy and my husband and I have called him Elijah, but he’s already being known as Eli. He was a little bigger and longer than we were expecting given how neat my bump was, but he’s been 8lb of joy to welcome into our lives.

I’m still recovering from the birth and I’d like to very publicly thank the amazing NHS staff, midwives, doctors and support workers who have been a lifeline for me and my baby. From the hospital staff at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary to the community midwife team, we are so lucky to have a health service that cares for us when we need it most.

Whilst it’s going to take me some weeks to physically recover I look forward to being able to introduce Eli to all the wonderful people I meet across the constituency. He’s as yet oblivious to how lucky he is to be brought up here in the most beautiful part of the country!

Thanks also to all who have sent cards, gifts and messages to the office, it’s a real comfort to know Eli is being made to feel so welcome as one of the newest residents in our community.
