Road works affect 2C Bus
Road works affect 2C Bus

I know many of you have raised concerns about the forthcoming road works in Over Wyre forcing the closure of main roads during school hours and requiring extensive diversions. In particular I know there are worries about the bus service with constituents struggling to access work, medical services and further education.

On your behalf I contacted the Managing Director of Blackpool Transport to see if it were possible to provide minibuses that were able to use the diversion routes that the single/double deckers wouldn’t be able to access during the road works.

The MD Jane Cole has kindly responded and confirms:

“From the 7th January the service 2C will operate as normal from the start of service until 0905 from Knott End and recommence at 1505 from Knott End. This is until the 15th January to ensure that St Aidan’s school has a service.

During the middle of the day we cannot operate a diversionary route as neither the double or single deck buses can manoeuvre the route as it is too narrow in places. We do not have any minibuses.

On Monday 14th January Park Lane Preesall will close from 0800 for resurfacing, this across the junction of Cart Gate to Fordstone Avenue, due to be completed by Tuesday 22nd January.

Service 2C in both directions will divert via Burned House Lane, Lancaster Rd, Sandy Lane to normal route. St Aidan’s school services will be allowed access to the school( Cart Gate) and will be allowed to depart as normal.”

I hope this is useful and if there are further concerns please do contact me by email on cat.smith.mp@parliament.uk or call my Constituency Office on 01253 490 440.
