I’m delighted to be supporting this amazing venture to provide our fantastic health workers with free bikes.
Ben Kinnon, his Dad Frank Kinnon and and friend David Sherry came up with the idea of repairing unwanted bikes to donate to frontline health workers.
The idea has grown so quickly they’ve been given workshop space at Fleetwood Hospital.
“We’ve so far been given 146 bikes donated for free by some wonderful local people,” explains Frank. “We’ve now refurbished and distributed 55 bikes to our amazing NHS staff and we also have a waiting list of over 130 people waiting for bikes.”
Health care workers have been using the bikes to safely get into and home from work, as well as enjoying a bit of down time on two wheels when they’re not constrained by personal protective equipment.
The Bikes For Heroes team are giving of their time for free but their difficulty is in affording the parts.
