The Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) say it would cost £12.64bn to return our roads to a good condition, and so we know that the scale of the challenge of resurfacing and pothole repair is huge.

Last week the Government announced £200m extra for highways maintenance for this coming financial year. Whilst this is only a drop in the ocean of what is needed, I have asked that Lancashire County Council use their share to fix up the roads in the Larkholme area of Fleetwood, which has several roads in dire need of attention.

Some of these I have seen for myself, and others are ones which people have raised to me as an issue:

  • Chatsworth Avenue
  • Hodder Avenue
  • Ennerdale Avenue
  • Ullswater Avenue
  • Northway
  • Cartmel Avenue
  • Inglewood Close
  • Larkholme Parade (approach to Broadway junction)

I hope that Lancashire County Council will listen, and assess the roads, before taking the resurfacing action which is desperately needed.
