Cat with Nurses and Patients at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary Children's Ward

I was delighted to visit the Children’s Ward at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary last week where I had the pleasure of judging an art competition to mark 75 years of our beloved NHS.

The quality of the artwork was outstanding and very difficult to judge! I was hugely impressed with the 87 pictures which were on the theme of tea parties.

The standard was so high, but I did manage to choose two winners. One of the winners Leah, created her bright and colourful picture with just one hand because she had broken her other arm. She is an absolute trooper!

I would like to thank all of the children for getting involved, it was wonderful to see all of the artwork. I remember when I was child and went to hospital, it was scary and boring. However, the Children’s ward at the RLI is quite the opposite, they have a lovely big room for children to play in which is a joy to see.

I must also thank the staff on the ward for their continued dedication to healthcare throughout such challenging times. You have created a happy, creative and high-quality environment for the children in your care.
