Cat with local Labour Party Volunteers on a litter pick at the Ridge Playground

Following my call to action last week, volunteers turned out to help clean-up the ridge playground and I want to say a massive thank you! It was one of the hottest summer days we had and it was not an easy task!

Collectively, we were appalled with the state of disrepair this park has been allowed to fall into and have serious concerns about it’s safety.

Broken glass, missing fence panels, old equipment and damaged playground surfaces. I have been raising this with the city council for years yet this park continues to be neglected.

Our little ones deserve better than this! That’s why I have once again shared my frustration with Lancaster City Council and urged them to, at the very least, try to maintain regular disposal of waste. The bins were overflowing when we arrived which shows how infrequently the bins are emptied.

It’s not right that, when other parts of Lancaster see new play equipment, the Ridge Playground is overlooked time and time again. That’s why I am also making approaches to different groups for funding to properly replace and renew the playground.
