Cat Smith Working for Lancaster and Wyre
In a series of their heritage plaques commemorating notable local women, Lancaster Civic Vision invited me as well as the Leader of Lancashire County Council, Phillippa Williamson and The Mayor of Lancaster, Abi Mills to unveil a plaque to celebrate Annie Helme, a suffragist and campaigner for women’s rights who became Lancaster’s first woman mayor in 1932 and who lived on Westbourne Drive at the time.
What a fantastic celebration of Lancaster’s heritage!
