Cat Smith Working for Lancaster and Wyre

I wanted to take a moment to highlight an important new support group that has recently been launched by local residents – the SEND Dads Drop-in. This group is specifically designed for Dads, Stepdads, Grandads, and male Carers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The drop-in has been created as a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental space where men can come together to share their thoughts, feelings, concerns, and questions about life as SEND parent carers.
We know that men’s mental health is something that often doesn’t get talked about enough. It can be incredibly difficult to open up, to talk about what’s really going on, and to share the struggles that so many parent carers face. The SEND Dads Drop-in has been created to try and combat this by offering understanding, connection, and support – from people who truly “get it” because they’re going through similar experiences.
If you know someone who might benefit from this group, please do pass this on. Let’s encourage more conversations about men’s mental health and make sure that every SEND Dad, Stepdad, Grandad, and Carer knows there’s a space for them to feel heard and supported.
