Vale View Day Centre is at risk of closure, as part of a review by Lancashire County Council.
Lancashire County Council have opened their official consultation on the future of the centre, which can be visited at www.catsmith.co.uk/consultation (this automatically directs you to the council’s consultation page). I would strongly encourage everyone complete it before the consultation closes on 12th December 2025.
Nestled among bungalows in the heart of an older community on The Vale estate, the incredible staff at the centre bring people together for daily activities and days out, helping to prevent loneliness in older age. It is beloved by its service users, and families are worried about what will happen to their relatives who depend upon it if it closes.
Closing the day centre risks isolating some of the most vulnerable residents in our community. The building has fallen into disrepair and is need of investment, or an alternative venue nearby. Closing the centre without any protections for those who use it or their staff is not the answer.
We are calling on Lancashire County Council to Save Vale View Day Centre: Invest in the building or source a nearby venue that is fit-for-purpose to protect those using the service and its staff.
