Today I’ve spent the morning supporting residents affected by the latest flooding in Lancaster.

As always, the fire service and water rescue teams were amazing, pumping out water from people’s homes and streets, helping to evacuate residents whose homes had been flooded and doing all of this as swiftly as possible to minimise the damage.

Lancaster City Council were quick to arrange an emergency rest centre at St Paul’s Church Hall in Scotforth and the Environment Agency and housing agencies were on hand to reassure and provide help.

Thank you to all the professionals who did their best to limit the stress and damage for the residents involved.

Once again we’ll need to assess the reasons for this flooding to determine how to prevent it happening in the future, but for now I’m glad there were no injuries and everyone was kept safe and warm.
