Supporting constituents to help resolve their issues is one of the most rewarding aspects of being an MP.

Although sadly I don’t have any formal authority over separately elected local councils or Government departments (eg the DWP, Passport Office, DVLA, Home Office, HMRC, Child Maintenance Service etc), where I believe I can try to help, I can make enquiries to support people to get the answers they need.

I receive hundreds of emails every day and I always prioritise those from constituents, so please ensure that you have included your full name and address, including post code, in your email. I will not guarantee a reply if you do not put your full postal address on your email as there is a strict parliamentary protocol that MPs can only take up casework on behalf of their own constituents. Including a contact telephone number, any deadlines or reference numbers can also help speed up the support I am able to offer you.

My casework team is based in Lancaster and when I’m at Westminster they are trained in talking to you about your concerns.

If you want to contact me:

  • You can email me: cat.smith.mp@parliament.uk
  • You can telephone my constituency office on 01524 566551 or my Westminster Office 0207 219 6001.
  • You can write to my office at 47 Scotforth Road, Lancaster LA1 4SA

Please note due to strict Parliamentary protocol I am only able to make enquiries on behalf of my own constituents. To find out if I am your MP please visit https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/
