Cat Smith Working for Lancaster and Wyre

I, like many others have been concerned about the issues facing the Musicians’ Coop following their eviction notice. I’ve written to the Chief Executive of Lancaster City Council asking for the situation to be resolved as a matter of urgency. I’ve said in the letter that I understand the City Council has found numerous safety defects in the building which require repair work, but forcing the musicians out without providing alternative accommodation could seriously harm a major part of Lancaster’s cultural life. I’ve urged the City Council in collaboration with the Coop, to either remedy the issues at the current site or find meaningful alternative accommodation to ensure the Coop can continue to thrive and contribute to Lancaster’s music scene.
