Reducing the waste and environmental damage we create as a result of our reliance on technology is one of my main priorities, and should be taken far more seriously as we face up to the climate emergency.

I had a extremely interesting meeting with Dave Carlos from the West Fleetwood Community Clinic and learnt more about the fantastic work that he and his fellow “geeks” do in providing low cost community based technology repair and reuse to prevent technology waste – all based at the Rossall Tavern pub!

In just 9 sessions they saved the equivalent of 3336kg of C02 emissions – the same as watching TV for 5,792 days.

We also discussed ” The Manchester Declaration”, a campaign by community repair groups pushing for the Right of Repair worldwide, and making repair more accessible and affordable for the communities they work in.
