Cat hears about the crisis in nursing

I’ve had a lovely afternoon with members of the Royal College of Nursing at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust hearing about their work and the challenges. I share the concerns around the ill-thought out abolishment of the training bursary and the debts incurred. We need more people to go into nursing, and that will need a change in policy alongside making sure nurses feel valued, supported and can practice safely. There’s plenty for me to raise with Government and the management of the hospital to make sure nurses can do their jobs effectively.

I’ve also signed up to WeOwnIt pledge against privatisation of the NHS!
