Global Link - Can You Help?
Global Link - Can You Help?

Global Link is a Development Education Centre, now supporting asylum seekers and refugees in the Lancaster District. It’s one of countless charities and voluntary sector organisations that supported and continue to support vulnerable people in Lancaster District throughout the pandemic.

Struck by the incredibly positive, swift and decisive response of both Lancaster City Council and their partners in the VCSF (voluntary, community, social and faith) sector, they decided they wanted to document and celebrate what they think has been an extraordinary response from Lancaster and Morecambe’s community to helping each other through the crisis.

So, over the summer of 2020 they trained refugee and asylum seeker volunteers to gather these stories, while other volunteers transcribed and wrote up the stories. The team have created this booklet  Download the booklet here  –  a celebration of volunteers, volunteering, partnership working and the people of Lancaster and Morecambe.

Global Link has a vision of a long-term space in Lancaster where they can run their community heritage workshops, their global learning activities, and display their resources and exhibitions.

They want this to be a place where refugees and asylum seekers can feel welcome, supported and safe, where they can meet local people, and where they can access support, information and advice to enable them to reach their potential in the UK.

And they need to raise £75,000 to help fund this space.

They’ve launched a crowdfunding scheme and if you can help in any way please donate here http://www.globallink.org.uk/NewHome.php
