I’ve been supporting Lancaster resident Josh Brandwood in his efforts to make the roads safer for everyone living in the area.
Josh has been calling for a safe cycling lane along the Bay Gateway after his father Mark Bryan was seriously hurt in a collision with an HGV.
Lancashire County Council has now published an initial report where they ‘acknowledge’ the route for possible inclusion in the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan – the aims of which are to ‘make the county a place where cycling and walking is easily accessible, safe to use, attractive and well maintained.’
Cycling is a healthy and clean way to get about – but only if it’s safe. I hope this is a positive step towards making all our roads less dangerous and more accessible. I know there are many other concerning roads in Lancaster and Fleetwood and I will continue to support campaigns for safer roads.
