Crumbling wall by St John’s School
Crumbling wall by St John’s School

I know that many residents in Galgate are concerned about the condition of the stone wall by St John’s School linking onto Armitage Way. Since this was first flagged to me by Parish Councillor Lisa Corkerry, I have been working with her to try and get action from Storey Homes.

On the 14th July I was assured by Storey Homes a site visit would happen and would lead to steps being taken to secure the loose stones and collapsing wall. By the end of August, I was not aware of any progress made so Lisa contacted Building Control at the City Council. I understand the area has been cordoned off pending further works, and commend Lisa for her persistence.

I’ve now written to Storey Homes again, flagging the safety risk and asking them to work with the City Council to mend this wall. I feel this must be done with urgency, especially now the schools are back.

I know myself and Lisa will be watching the situation closely, and I thank all residents who have contacted me about this issue.
