Cat with Kerry on stage at the Grand Theatre

I was invited to visit Lancaster’s Grand Theatre for #LancashireLovesLocal last week. Although I am very familiar with this amazing venue, it was really interesting to hear more about its rich local history and discuss the exciting plans for its expansion.

The Grand is the third oldest theatre in Britain, being in continuous use since 1782! The incredible team over there put on around 280 shows per year and they are driven to cater to local interests by putting on a huge variety of shows, from musicals and bands to comedians and international ballet companies – there’s something for everyone!

In recent years The Grand team have been fundraising to go ahead with plans to expand and build ‘The Foyer’ which will be home to accessible workshop studios. The Theatre doesn’t receive any external funding and rely completely on ticket sales and donations for restoration and regeneration projects. You can find out how to donate and get involved here: https://lancastergrand.co.uk/support-us/new-foyer/

The Arts took a massive hit throughout COVID and many venues never recovered. We are so lucky to have this venue on our doorstep and I would thoroughly encourage you all to take a look at the shows they have on this year at: https://lancastergrand.co.uk/ or you can head over to their box office on St Leonard’s Gate, Lancaster!
