Cat with Patrick, Owner of Runner Duck Lancaster

I visited Runner Duck Wine Bar on King Street for #LancashireLovesLocal last week. It’s a lovely, welcoming venue, they offer over 40 different wines accompanied with a wide choice of delicious local cheese. They also serve some beers and spirits – so there is certainly something for everyone!

Patrick, the owner said he wanted to create a space where wine is less about fancy etiquette and more about making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone. They have started hosting monthly wine tasting events and it’s been really popular! You can visit their website to find out more: https://runnerducklancaster.co.uk/wine-tastings

Lancaster has a tremendous nightlife, and Runner Duck is a unique and exciting addition for the city. The night-time economy, in particular, experienced a prolonged period of extreme uncertainty throughout COVID. Even as concerns surrounding the pandemic have eased, numerous challenges remain for business owners with the rising cost of energy, cost of living crisis, inflation, and raised City Council parking fees.

The average pub is expecting its energy costs to rise by 82% when the government’s industrial energy support scheme ends, and according to the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) and Frontier Economics, this could lead to a typical profit loss of £72,000 per venue. Independent local businesses need our support now more than ever!

I would highly recommend for any wine lovers to pop in and check Runner Duck out if you haven’t already.
