Announcement that Cat has joined EFRA
Announcement that Cat has joined EFRA

Despite the urgency of the climate crisis, the current Government’s policies and inaction has prioritised short-term economic gains over long-term environmental sustainability. Urgent and transformative actions are necessary to address the climate crisis, and I’m afraid that current efforts by those in charge have not lived up to the scale of the challenge.

I am taking up every opportunity possible both locally and in Westminster, that will aid me to take meaningful change towards net-zero.

This is why I recently jumped at the opportunity to join the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs Select Committee (EFRA), in addition to my position in Parliament on the cross-party Environmental Audit Committee (EAC).

EFRA exists to scrutinise the Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Therefore, I will have another platform to voice our collective anger and concern about the the climate emergency and work to make suggestions on how to better protect people and the planet.

As ever, if you wish to contact me about matters relating to this or anything else, then please feel free to do so at cat.smith.mp@parliament.uk
