Update on Lancaster Signal
Update on Lancaster Signal

Despite successfully getting O2 to fix a central mast last month, residents and businesses around the city continue to face significant disruption to their mobile signal and data across the Lancaster area, and they’re fed up.

According to the O2 signal checking service, areas around St George’s Quay and Willow Lane are told: “Looks like a phone mast near to you isn’t working as it should, sorry. To fix if for you, we need to get into the site and we’re talking to the landlord to do this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you might have some trouble with your calls, texts and data. We’ll update you again by Thursday 29th June 2023.”

Additionally, areas like Scotforth just south of the city are told: “Looks like a nearby phone mast isn’t working as it should, sorry. Our engineers will be on the case already, and your service might come and go until we fix it.”

I’m frustrated with this awful service, and despite O2 telling me that one mast was fixed, it’s clear there’s still lots of poor coverage and their masts are still broken.

I have written to O2 once again, asking what compensation they will be giving to customers and when they will fix the issue. You can read this letter below.

If you are an O2 customer, please check your postcode at at https://status.o2.co.uk/, and if you are being told there is a phone mast issue, I have also set up a complaint form below for affected customers who wish to claim for compensation for poor service. If you’d like to complete this form, it will automatically be sent to O2 for them to respond to, as well a copy being sent to both you and me.
