Cat with Malcom from Laburnum Nurseries
Cat with Malcom from Laburnum Nurseries

This afternoon I visited Malcom and Ann from Laburnum Nurseries in Forton. I learned so much about what they do as a wholesale plant supplier and the future of their industry.

Situated along the A6, Laburnum Nurseries is an impressive family business that supply some of our most beloved local garden centres and businesses – and you can even see their beautiful plants used in places like Dalton Square!

I was surprised by the size of the nurseries; you can’t see from the road just how vast it is and how much work it must be for a small family business.

In speaking with Malcom and Ann, I can tell how passionate they are about what they do. Malcom’s interest in growing started when he was just a lad. Both he and Ann came from farming backgrounds and after they were married, they took a chance on buying Laburnum Nurseries and the rest was history. For the last 30 years they have become the local experts in their field and have a hugely successful business that is an asset to our community.

I’m looking forward to working more with Malcom and Ann, especially alongside my work on EFRA and the Environmental Audit Committee. I’m very conscious that businesses like Laburnum Nurseries are an integral part of our local economy and we need to support them!

Thank you for being so welcoming today, I look forward to seeing you again!
