As part of my drive to champion local businesses, today I had the privilege of visiting Diane and Roy Kellet, owners of Mill House Farm Pods in Cockerham.
This family run business is so impressive! A hidden gem tucked away in Cockerham near Farm Yard Brewery; they have four luxurious glamping pods on their beautiful site.
Each pod has its own private hot tub, seating area and firepit. There is an alpaca pen and two very friendly goats that greet you on arrival to the site. The pods have been open since 2019 and all of the construction was carried out by the family themselves, with some help from traders in the local area!
Mill House Farm has a strong focus on sustainability. Back in 2012, the family had two wind turbines put up to supply electricity to their farm and the pods themselves have air source heat pumps to power to the hot tubs. In recent years, they’ve also had a bore hole installed which supplies all the water to the farm.
Their efforts don’t stop there! They are also heavily involved in various schemes to promote wildlife and environmental diversification. It’s assuring to know that Lancashire is home to so many environmentally conscious businesses, and that local businesses are doing their bit for the planet. As a member on the Environmental Audit Committee and with my position on EFRA, I will look to represent such local efforts, that are being made towards Net-Zero, in Westminster!
You can find out all you need to know about Mill House Farm Pods and book your stay here. It’s the perfect getaway for any occasion and we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep!
