It was such a pleasure to welcome my friend and colleague Louise Haigh MP, Shadow Transport Secretary, to Lancaster today to speak about our successful campaign to save Lancaster Ticket Office. The petition that we submitted had the most responses than any other campaign on the West Coast Mainline!

We took some brilliant questions which led to discussions surrounding:

  • The future of transport under a Labour Government, committed to delivering accessible, affordable and reliable public transport! It was great to hear about the hard work that Louise is undertaking around this.
  • Bringing railways back into public ownership!
  • Taking back control of local bus routes, fares and services!
  • The climate emergency and the need to transition towards Net Zero, which will only happen once we change the way that we get around. To achieve this, transport networks simply need to work better for all.

Thank you so much to everyone that came to speak to us today and to the brilliant volunteers from Lancaster Labour Party for helping with the event!
