Cat Smith Working for Lancaster and Wyre
For years I have been trying to get the roads in Winmarleigh resurfaced by Lancashire County Council. I wrote to them in November 2022 asking for the roads in the village to be assessed and repaired.
Sadly the county council simply said that they check the roads every three months (you can see their letter to me in November 2022 below)
Since then we have seen a tragic cyclist fatality in the village on Island Lane after striking a large crack in the road just two months after this letter.
As the roads have continued to deteriorate and recent surface water flooding has eroded any slap and dash pothole repair, the roads are looking worse than ever, and residents are really concerned that nothing seems to be happening here.
I am working with the Environment Agency and Lancashire County Council to resolve persistent surface water flooding on School Lane already, but once again, I have written to Lancashire County Council asking them to look again at the roads in Winmarleigh and carry out the pothole repairs and resurfacing works what are desperately needed across the village – especially at the moment on New House Lane.
