It was so lovely to meet Paula and Sarah this morning to talk about their incredible work with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Paula tragically lost her beautiful son Matthew, he was just 22 years old when he suffered a cardiac arrest. In her journey through grieving the loss of her child, Paula found that raising awareness about heart health and encouraging young people to get screenings alongside CRY, gave her purpose, helping her find herself again after the loss of Matthew.

With the support of family and amazing friends like Sarah, Paula created the Mathew Hesmondhalgh Memorial Fund through the CRY charity. So far they have raised over £215,000, delivered thousands of heart screenings to local young people, helped detect hundreds of underlying heart conditions and ultimately prevented further cardiac deaths.

Thank you so much to Paula, Sarah and Cardiac Risk in the Young for the incredible work that you do. To find out more about the Memorial Fund and the CRY Charity click here.
