Both myself and Wyre Councillor Charlotte Walker are increasingly concerned about the ongoing Cricketer’s Green development off School Lane in Forton.

Residents have raised a number of concerns, not least the unannounced closure of Forton’s bus stop which Lancashire County Council said they had resolved, until they later admitted they had not, still leaving residents without an accessible stop. This has been incredibly poorly handled.

But on top of this, the original plans to include a some form of additional healthcare service seems to have disappeared after consultation with Lancashire County Council, and there are concerns that without a renter, there will be no local shop built as planned either – leaving residents with additional housing and next to no resident benefit in enhanced community amenities.

Finally, the level of disruption on the surrounding roads is extremely clear, and they need to clean up their act.

Both I and Cllr Walker have now approached the Charles Church and Persimmon to seek responses to our questions and requests around public amenities and increasing the potential for healthcare access, an apology and financial recompense for the loss of public transport services, increase road safety in prioritising the traffic island, and backing our campaign to lower the speed limit through the village, as well as contractor behaviour.
