Weeks on from the Environment Agency’s visit to Jameson Road landfill and recommendations, the odour continues to impact residents across Fleetwood and Knott End-on-Sea.

This isn’t good enough and I’m frustrated by the lack of a concrete timeframe for improvement, so I have now asked the Environment Agency to be clear on when they will take enforcement action.

Local residents have done a fantastic job in reporting the regularity and strength of the odour they are experiencing, as shown by the EA’s own recent statistics of an 11,000% increase in reports.

I am aware that local Lancashire County Councillor Lorraine Beavers, Fleetwood Town Councillors and local residents have rightly taken to local and regional media to emphasise how badly they are being let down, and I also have been in touch with national media organisations to apply more public pressure for action.
