Today I was really pleased to bring together the first meeting of my MP Eco‑Advisory Panel, organised alongside local members of Greenpeace.
A big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to join the discussion. It was incredibly valuable to hear from local campaigners, experts and residents about the environmental challenges facing Lancaster and Wyre, and the solutions we need to be pushing for.
We had thoughtful conversations about a wide range of issues, including protecting our oceans from damaging practices like bottom trawling, the importance of marine conservation, the impacts of fossil fuel extraction, and how we balance development with the needs of local communities and infrastructure.
I’ll be following up on a number of actions raised today, including writing to Ministers about ocean protections and joining the Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus in Parliament.
