Cat Smith Working for Lancaster and Fleetwood
Last October I and Labour Councillors asked Lancaster City Council to protect The Alexandra Hall by issuing a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) on the building, which has been allowed to fall into disrepair.
This is a Grade II listed building and an important landmark for many as you enter the City Centre.
The City Council served a Listed Building Enforcement Notice, which was dated 25 April 2023 and served on all those with an interest in the property. The Notice requires the reinstating of all windows. Sadly, this was appealed by one of the recipients, to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate.
I have written to the Planning Inspectorate urging them to do the right thing, and reject this appeal.
